Taller de Jose is a community resource center offering accompaniment to people in need, connecting people to services and services to people, so that all may be one. Taller de Jose is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Taller de Jose is located in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago. What is unique about this ministry is that staff members connect and accompany men, women and children in need with agencies and resources which can help them to lead better lives. All of the staff is bilingual and provides support and encouragement to the clients. All services are free of charge. Staff accompanies clients via public transpiration.

Many of the clients who come to Taller de Jose are immigrants who find it difficult to receive the services needed because of language barriers, fear, or lack of knowledge. Taller de Jose does not duplicate already existing services in the ecclesial and civic communities of Chicago but partners with them to help to alleviate human sufferings caused by, but not limited to, hunger, domestic abuse, addictions, homelessness, sickness, and violence.

During this Christmas season, please accompany Taller de Jose in the ministry of accompaniment. Your tax deductible gift may be made payable to the Congregation of St. Joseph, Taller de Jose. Below are 2 Concrete options for Reaching Out to Young Adults in your parish:

Within These Walls- create a brochure for teaching the signs and symbols found within your church building. Invite all who enter your church to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning behind various signs/symbols, and how they work in our lives today.

The 3rd Moment of a Sacrament - The 1st moment is preparation; the 2nd is the the actual celebration of the sacrament. The 3rd moment is follow-up. Consider this strategy of evangelization for building a relationship with parents who have recently had a child baptized.
Volunteers are still needed to assist with rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina.A note from Fr. Cusick.

A Must-Read for Catholic Young Adult Workers!
Posted July 26, 2003, 10:21 PM EST: Fr. Cusick and Kate DeVries offer some great advice for Young Adult Ministry workers and pastoral ministers in the Catholic Church, from the diocesan level to the parish level. Chicago has done Young Adult Ministry so well that these two had to write down the 'secrets of their success'... and that they did. As a Young Adult Ministry Director myself in the Archdiocese of Chicago, I keep a copy on my desk at all times (and my binding on it is already wearing with use). Very little has been written about young adults in their 20s and 30s from the Catholic perspective - and it's a crying shame. Fr. Cusick and Kate offer a perfect remedy to the lack of resources out there. They offer suggestions on how to plan, publicize, and evaluate young adult programming, as well as ideas on how to reach out to the underchurched in our midst. Every church professional who works with this age group should buy this book right away! My only hope is that they keep updating the book every three to five years as young adults themselves change over time.
